I have a 12" plate shear from Grizzly (appears to be discontinued now) . It is a very handy tool!

I got tired of cutting pieces with a Milwaukee hand nibbler, bandsaw, and... cutoff wheel in angle grinder. The horror.

I think you will get addicted to how quickly it can make  an arrow-straight cut compared to the methods you just mentioned. I will never be without one again.
